Description:

4130 is a chromium-molybdenum steel

AISI 4130 is a Low alloy Steel containing Chromium and Molybdenum as strengthening agents. It is supplied as round bar commonly in the hardened and tempered condition with a hardness of 18-22 HRc.

With a lower carbon content range than AISI 4140, AISI 4130 has excellent weldability and machinability characteristics. 

Known for its responsiveness to mechanical and heat treatments, Alloy Steel 4130 is weldable by most commercially popular methods. Cold working is possible as well and forming often takes place in the annealed condition, where it exhibits excellent ductility. Steel 4130 has an excellent strength to weight ratio and is considerably stronger and harder than other standard grades of steel.

Typical Applications:

AISI 4130 suits many applications as forgings in the Aerospace and Oil & Gas industries as Forged Valve Bodies Pumps and other Low Stress Oil & Gas applications as well as Agricultural and Defence Industries

Supplied in sizes from 35mm – 1150mm dia

Material Can be supplied as Black Hot Rolled or Hot Forged Bar and Forgings as required, Bright Turned/Machined/ Cut Pieces and/or Bored & Heat Treated and Tested
